Tutors for Tots, Tweens and Teens

FAQ’s

1. Are the tutors credentialed or licensed?

Yes, all Tutors for Tots, Tweens & Teens’ tutors are credentialed or degreed in the subject area that they tutor.

2. How is a tutor matched up with my child?

We look at a variety of aspects such as your child’s learning style, current standing grades, personality and parent participation in the educational process. Using this information, we carefully choose a tutor whose educational specialties and personality complements your child’s needs.

3. Do the tutors contact my child’s teacher(s)?

We encourage all parents to sign the teacher contact authorization form during registration. In doing so, the tutor will be required to contact your child’s teacher(s) in order to establish a working relationship to help your child succeed in school.

4. How often does my child need tutoring?

Based on the results of your child’s diagnostic assessment and prior grades, we will give our expert opinion on how many hours per week we believe your child can benefit from receiving 1-on-1 tutoring; however, the final decision will be yours to make.

5. How long is each session?

Our minimum tutoring sessions run for 1 hour, but each child’s education plan is different and may require more tutoring time; therefore, we plan and discuss this option during the consultation process.

6. How do you track student progress?

Tutors are required to submit a monthly progress report that’s aligned with the CA Common Core Standards. The report addresses the student’s work and progress in the core subject(s) they receive tutoring, strengths, areas of concern, and future goals.

7. Can my child and the tutor be left alone in my home?

No, there must be a Designated Adult Supervisor (DAS) present during all sessions for students under the age of 18.

8. Will I be charged for cancelled sessions?

Sessions must be cancelled at least 24 hours in advance in order to avoid late cancellation charges—that is equal to your hourly session rate.

9. What if we are running late?

Contact your child’s tutor immediately if you know in advance that you will be late. After 15 minutes past the scheduled time, it will be the tutor’s discretion if they will reschedule the session. It will also be the tutor’s discretion to charge you for the session, resulting in no makeup.
